I recently learned of another great LiveEarth blog which details additional information about the upcoming event, provides tools to become a "greener" individual, and links to articles focused on developments within the field of combating our global climate crisis. As you will note, one of the interesting issues that "Going Green" addresses is the impact of live events, including recycling and composting, transportation, food and beverages, packaging, energy, water usage, and the event site itself. From power generation at the concerts to garbage generated by concert goers, Live Earth will seek to “design out” waste and bestow an eco-friendly legacy on the live event industry.

Both our blog and "Going Green" aims to showcase Live Earth’s efforts to green every aspect of its operations.

London or New York?

Hi Everybody
I wanted to talk about the London concert ( Red Hot, Black eyed, Beastie boys...)

and instead was so curious about my Carbon Footprint, I tried to calculate it. I expected a quite good result because I turn off my computer each night, take public transportation, bring my bags to the grocery stores, buy locally, and recycle everything... And my ECP score is 300. it seems quite high to me. Is that really a bad score? I have no idea, what is your carbon footprint? I will definitely not fly to London but stay in New York for the 07/07/07 concert. I don't want to increase that much my carbon output! ;-)

Final Acts Confirmed For London Show

Metallica, Kasabian, and the Pussycat Dolls are the final acts to be added to the Live Earth London line-up performing at Wembley Stadium as part of the 24-hour, 7-continent Live Earth concert series on 7/7/07.

They will join the already star studded cast of performers, including The Beastie Boys, Corrine Bailey Rae, Foo Fighters, Genesis, and.....SPINAL TAP!!!!

Hopefully the amp will be able "to go all the way to 11."

Another chance

Live Earth concert on 7/7/07 will begin in Sydney and continue across all 7 continents (US, UK, Brazil, China, Australia, South Africa, Germany, Turkey and Japan), concluding with the U.S. show. In addition, these concerts will reach 2 billion people through TV, Internet and radio. Therefore, if you couldn't get tickets in London or Kyoto, don't give up!! And think together about global warming! For now, I'm separating garbage according to type...

Sendin' out an SOS

President Al Gore (keepin' my fingers crossed...) is focusing his attention on generating buzz for the upcoming Save Our Selves concert and our urgent need to combat global warming via an initiative that he describes as "a mass persuasion campaign" that will outline various ways for individuals, corporations, and politicians to take action.

LiveEarth is of course modeled on the 1985 LiveAid (to raise funds for famine relief) and the 2005 Live8 (to raise pressure for debt relief and eliminating poverty) international concerts.

At the recent TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) convention, Al Gore notes that he intends to use LiveEarth to design a "Green Standard Event" that could become a "model for carbon-neutral concerts and other live entertainment events".

First post, first tip...

I wanted to write about this fantastic concert, the Live Earth concert, http://www.liveearth.org/. One day, July the 7th, 7 cities, 7 continents, 7 concerts, and millions of people for our planet.
And I also figured out that it would be nice to post, once a day or once a week, a simple way to save our planet and to become more "Green". My first post will be about... turning off your computer at night... What? Not everybody actually turns off their computer when they don't use it? Well I guess this is a first step.
